This program helps teens and young adults prepare for getting a job.
· Each participant learns what his/her individual qualities and strengths are that would make him/her a good employee and how to talk about them in a job interview.
· Each participant develops a personal information profile that serves as the basis for job applications and a resume.
· Role-play and practice job interviews give each participant a chance to learn good communication skills when meeting someone for the first time.
· Everyone is given the chance to practice and learn what it feels like to be interviewed for a job.
· Local business owners and employers come and talk about what they look for in a good employee.
· One parent workshop is offered to help parents understand and reinforce what their sons and daughters are learning.
Curriculum is based on “Getting Ready for the Job World”, a video-based curriculum for teens on finding, getting and keeping a job.
